LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

Johnny David Williams the second is behind bars in Lee County after leading deputies on a two-county manhunt Thursday morning, following a fight with a deputy.

Lee County and Dougherty County deputies and the Department of Corrections K-9 units swarm a home off Old Dawson Road in Dougherty County around 11:00 Thursday morning.

Moments later, Williams, on the run for three hours, is captured hiding in the wooded area behind the home.

"These guys are hard core," said Lee County's Chief Deputy Lewis Harris Jr. "So they don't want to give up."

The chase began after a deputy approached Williams off Story Lane in Lee County, that's when  officials say he became uncooperative.

"The subject had a flashlight in his right front pocket and his other pocket was a big bulge with unknown items in them," said the Chief Deputy. "So the deputy went out with the subject and asked him what he was doing and the subject started acting real suspicious "

Williams and the deputy then got into a brief physical fight, before he took off into a wooded area.

"The subject actually ran out of his shoes, so we do have his shoes," said Harris.

As the hunt unfolded, charges against the man mounted.  For now, he's facing two counts of obstruction, felony charges, one count of loitering and prowling, but officials say there could be more.

"It's unknown at this time if we have any entering autos," said Harris. "So it's very possible there will be more charges added to him. He's a good suspect for entering autos."

If residents in the area are missing items from their vehicles, they're asked to call Lee County Sheriff's.
