Things are moving forward for the Tired Creek Dam despite heavy rains.
The recent rainfall caused major damage to a pipe in the lake's principal spillway riser but progress hasn't slowed because of the minor setback. Instead an order has been placed for the replacement pipe that is expected to arrive by June.
"We knew there was going to be a lot of water, this is why it's going to be a lake, because there is a lot of water that gets into that basin, and we advised the contractor that we thought that the temporary dam, that they had to protect the riser pipe could have been higher than what they had," said county administrator Carlos Tobar.
Even if heavy rain does continues, the new pipe should be able to withstand the downpour.
