A Tift County teacher says he felt safe running today's Boston Marathon after last year's bombing.

Tift County High marketing teacher Mike Beeman ran his 37th Boston Marathon today. He says he beat his own personal best by 10 minutes running the marathon in a little more than four hours.   Beeman says this year's security was ten times what it was last year.

"In order for us to get on the bus and go the village which was about a three mile ride into the village you basically had to be patted down and you couldn't bring backpacks, any bags or anything like that. It was very similar to going through airport security, and I was fine with it," said Mike Beeman.

Beeman says he plans to return to run the Boston Marathon again next year.
