THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Preparations for this week's Thomasville Rose Show and Festival are in full swing, roads are already being blocked off.

Utility workers were out on Monday morning getting the power ready for the rose tent. Public works is re-striping and sprucing up the streets. The executive director of Thomasville's Main Street and Tourism says this will be the norm for the next few days as the city gets ready to welcome thousands of visitors.

"All week long, you will see crews out working really hard, past normal hours, making sure that our city looks it's very best for the Rose Show and Festival," executive director Karen Smith.

The festivities begin Thursday night with the Children's Rose Bud Parade. The big parade kicks of Friday night at 7. For the first time, this year's festival will also include a fireworks show.
