WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

A community is coming together to host a party for a Worth County teen who is fighting for his life.

17 year-old Louis Herrin has been fighting a long battle with muscular dystrophy.

He was able to attend his prom, but wasn't able to travel to Panama City for his senior class trip because of his health.

That's why friends have come together to host a beach bash for Louis at the Resort on Lake Blackshear on Saturday.

The event is free for anyone to attend, but donations are being accepted.

"It means a chance for people to donate that are scared to donate online," said Herrin's mother Margaret Mainor. "And it gives us a chance to meet the people that donated, so we can meet them face to face and they can meet him and know who we are."

Lake Blackshear Resort has donated the space. The band "Thorns Deep" also volunteered to perform at the event.

Mike's Country Store and Salt-Lick are donating food. The event starts around 6pm.
