Valdosta lawyers encouraged to be part of Ga. Legal Food Frenzy

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta Bar Association is now updated on the upcoming Georgia Legal Food Frenzy.

Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens was in Valdosta Thursday to speak to the association about the food drive.

Georgia Legal Food Frenzy kicks off on April 21st. It's a competition between Georgia lawyers to help collect food for food banks in the state.

"This is an initiative for lawyers to, frankly, give back; to help the kids in their community," Olens explained. "All of the food that's collected in a community stays in that community even though it's a statewide competition. Last year, we collected 842,000 pounds of food. So, the lawyers did a great job."

The goal this year is to collect one million pounds of food.
