MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Its "Keep America Beautiful Week" in the city of Moultrie. Folks could drop off their old or unwanted electronics for recycling Wednesday.

Any old household electronics including TVs, computers, or old fax machines. The city partners with a recycling company for the project.

Organizers say they've collected more than 7,000 pounds of old equipment, which will now stay out of the city's landfill.

"Just to keep stuff out of the landfill," said Solid Waste Coordinator Bruce Terrell. "The landfills are filling up and everything that you can recycle out to be used again out to be if it's cost feasible. Electronics-- there's a lot of expensive parts in there, wiring and components, that can be recycled and instead of throwing them away, we can use them again."

They plan to hold another electronic recycling event in September.
