ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State University is making going to college more convenient by adding online courses.

The new courses through a program called e-core give students flexibility to complete classes outside the classroom.

Qualified students can take general education courses such as English, History and Algebra online.

"It makes it easy for our students who want to go home for the summer and would like to take their courses as well and Albany State may not have that course in the core schedule," said LaQuata Sumter, Director of Academic Online Instruction.

"eCore" which stands for electronic core-curriculum is sanctioned at 11 University System of Georgia  institutions. The courses are designed, developed, taught and supported by USG faculty and staff.  ASU faculty and staff will also be afforded the opportunity to teach eCore courses system-wide.

The same material presented during the regular college terms is available in several different formats throughout the year under eCore. Courses are also offered in 10 week modules during the summer semester.

For more information about ASU's eCore schedule, visit online.asurams.edu or send an email to ecore@asurams.edu.
