VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta State University will hold a variety of events and activities that focus on career planning and preparation, internships, job search and networking during the 2014 Career Games, going now through Thursday, April 17.

A collaboration between the offices of Career Opportunities, Student Employment, Langdale College of Business Administration, Student Government Association (SGA), Campus Activity Board (CAB), and Plato's Closet of Valdosta, the week includes events throughout the day as well as some evening networking opportunities.

The week has a Hunger Games theme and is filled with contests that allow students to learn new things and engage in light and friendly competition.

Today's activities include a discussion on female career empowerment and a workshop on modern interviewing techniques.   The highlight of Monday's activities is a fashion show at 7 p.m. in the student union ballroom. The fashion show is free and includes students, faculty and staff in today's best business dress.

The week also includes a forum on social media dos and don'ts, a movie night, The Encounter internship and part-time jobs fair, and an evening networking event called Mocktails & Mingling.

The Career Games will conclude Thursday with several events, including the annual Student Employment Luncheon and Awards Ceremony as well as a cookout prior to CAB's spring concert, which features R&B and pop artist Sevyn Streeter.
