ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Advocacy Resource Center is raising Autism awareness through sports.

They held a kickball tournament today at the YMCA Sports Park on Gillonville Road to celebrate National Autism Month. Five teams from the ARC, the Albany Dougherty Drug Unit and the community participated in the event. Organizers say the tournament is a great way to raise Autism awareness.

"I figured we needed to have a tournament that puts ARC in the community because they believe in turning disabilities into possibilities and I also believe it's a way to draw attention for awareness," said Willie Wilcher.

The winners of the tournament received trophies and medals. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Albany ARC Autism program.
