ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of young men from around the state were in Albany today to learn about importance of staying in school.

They attended the 2014 National "MALES" Conference at Albany State University. The event kicked off yesterday with a banquet. The keynote speaker today was Dr. Charles King, Jr., who owns King Family Dentistry.

"Linking leadership in males one child at a time. We're trying to impact those kids lives and connect them with pieces that can help them with life coping skills a little bit better," said Antonio Leroy.

Proceeds will support the Center for the African American Males initiative to help fund workshops, a fishing rodeo, and a winter youth summit.
