ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Center for the African American Male held its second annual black-tie event Friday night at Albany State University.

It raised money for scholarships to help young black men who do well in Dougherty County Schools reach their full potential.

Center Executive Director Antonio Leroy said, "It's important to have fundraisers like this to say to young people, hey we want to put as many mentors on the street as they are probation officers."

Four scholarships to Albany State University were given out at the event. Money raised Friday night will go toward 2017 scholarships.
