THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

It's the beginning of a busy season for animal rescuers.

Many animals give birth in the Spring and more people spend time outside. Chet Powell rescued two turtles on Friday that we're struck by a boat.

He says Friday's rescue is not uncommon and it's important that more people are trained to help rescue animals. "People seem to be more mindful of doing the right thing, with the environment, so we get more calls and that means we need more help to get animals to where they need to go," said Powell.

A wildlife rescue training class will be held on April 26th in Morrow. For more information on the class visit Georgia Wildlife Rescue Association's facebook page.
