Reginald Mitchell has resigned as the Americus-Sumter head football coach after one season.
Mitchell tells WALB he is meeting with the players to inform them of his decision this morning.
"Sometimes places aren't the right fit for you, or you're not the right fit for certain places," he says. "I don't know which it is right now, but we're making a decision for our family."
Mitchell led the Panthers to a 4-6 record in his only season.
He says he doesn't have another job lined up at this point.
"I'm just taking a chance on faith," Mitchell added.
He didn't want to get into specifics about leaving the program, but says there's no hard feelings on his end.
"I wish the kids well, the program well, the school well, and the Sumter Co. School System well," Mitchell says.
We'll continue to follow this developing story and will have more tonight on WALB News 10.
