A potentially dangerous situation was quickly defused Tuesday when an Irwin County teacher intercepted a former student on campus.
School administrators tell us they were alerted on facebook Monday that the former student planned to show up on campus the next day to confront another student.
Extra law officers were on campus when he arrived, and found a gun in his vehicle.
While we don't know what the student's intentions were, we commend school teachers and administrators for taking the threat seriously and acting quickly.
In light of past violence on school campuses, we hope all school systems will follow Irwin County's lead in taking every threat seriously and taking steps to make sure no one gets hurt.
