New APD officers sworn in

New police are ready to serve and protect the people of Albany.

Monday night, Chief John Proctor swore in ten new Albany police officers who spent the last 11 weeks going through the academy.

Officer Danny Alday told us he's happy to have a job as a public servant. "I wanted to become an officer to serve my community. I feel like there is always a need. I like the public service industry, and I feel like I can make a big difference," Alday said.

The officers must train in the field with a partner for three months, then pass a board test before they're ready to patrol on their own.
