The anticipation of the 2014 Masters was quickly dampened Monday. Heavy rain and wind hit Augusta around 10:15 on the first day of practice rounds, suspending play and clearing the course.
A few of this year's participants got some practice in before the bad weather. 2012 champ Bubba Watson completed a round early Monday, while Thomasville's Harris English was able to complete just one hole.
A few of this year's participants put a positive spin on the weather.
"I think Monday with all this rain will help them a little bit in pacing themselves and not playing too many practice rounds," said Jim Furyk.
"Guys, especially who played last week, kind of forces them in a way to rest," said Steve Stricker. "Get two good days of work in before the start of the tournament."
Practice rounds will continue on Tuesday when much better weather is forecasted.
