Albany's Cleve Wester Inducted On Tiger Trail

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany Sports Hall of Famer will receive one of Auburn University's highest athletic honors next week.

A granite plaque honoring the athletic career of the late Cleve Wester will be placed on the Tiger Trail in the sidewalks of downtown Auburn.

Wester was an All SEC Tackle on Auburn's 1957 National Champion Team and was team captain in 1958.

His daughter, Donna Gentry, says the family is thrilled that Wester will receive this honor.

"Oh my goodness, he would be so humbled, and shocked," said Gentry.  "He would tell you right away that it was because he played with a group of very talented football players that got him there."

Wester died in 2009 at the age of 72.

He will be inducted in the Tiger Trail April 18th, the night before the spring A-Day football game.
