Is a big retail chain coming to Homerville?

Wade Daniel Wade Daniel
HOMERVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Talk of a Walmart Express coming to Homerville has some residents in the town uneasy... but city officials say there's no information to suggest that a Walmart Express may actually open up there.

About two weeks ago, a third party company requested information from the city about a plot of land along U.S. 84 where a pecan grove now sits.

The city manager though says at this point, that doesn't mean that Walmart, or any business, is getting ready to build there.

"We were contacted to provide information such as what permits would need to be gotten," explained Homerville City Manager Wade Daniel. "I have no information about whether it's a Walmart or any other company that's asked for information in regards to a site survey assessment from a third party."

Currently, the land is owned by a third party.
