Lady Rams overmatched by #9 UAH

The Albany State Lady Rams had upsets on their mind Friday when #9 Alabama-Huntsville traveled to Albany.

But the Lady Chargers were too much for ASU, sweeping the doubleheader, 8-3 and 5-2.

In game one, UAH jumped on the Lady Rams for six runs in the top of the first.

ASU threatened to rally in the fourth after Chaconna Marks doubled into the left field corner to lead off the inning.

After the double, the Lady Chargers went to Kimberly Jack out of the bullpen. Jack struck out two batters and forced a groundout to strand Marks.

The Chargers added two more insurance runs for the 8-3 win.

In game two, UAH pounded 13 hits to ASU's five, gaining a 4-0 advantage into the sixth.

Marks doubled again, this time with runners on, to score two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Rams could manage no more though, with UAH clinching the sweep with a 5-2 victory.

Albany State is back on the field Monday at Clark Atlanta. UAH heads south for a top 25 matchup with Valdosta State Saturday.
