SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

At 9 p.m. Friday, a call went out over police radios that a child had been shot on Church Street.

All police are saying is that there was a shooting and it appears to be serious.

Denisha Coppock said the victim is her 12-year-old cousin, and Otis Brock Elementary student who loves to play footall.

His family hopes the little boy hangs on.

"Pray for him, please as you say your prayers tonight," said Coppock. "You might not know him, but the prayer, it does work."

Detectives are still actively investigating the scene, and they aren't giving any indication as to what happened.

Another boy was seen in the back of a police car, but officers haven't explained what his involvement, if any, might be.
