Construction crews and state transportation officials are preaching safety.
A re pavement project on U-S 19 from Albany to Leesburg is just one south Georgia project on a heavily-traveled road.
Officials say drivers have to be cautious in those work zones.
"The main focus is to slow down while coming on the work zone," said Steve Burton with Oxford Construction. "There is a lot going on when we are doing the work. They just get distracted, they could be looking at the phone and run into a piece of equipment or even a person."
OSHA say objects and vehicles striking workers are the leading cause of construction-related deaths.
Next week is National Highway Work Zone Awareness Week.
