SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The WorthCounty Sheriff's Office now has a chaplain on staff.

Mike Davis is aformer deputy in Sumter County, and is the pastor of the Methodist Church.  He'll ride along with deputies on patroland work with jail personnel.

He'son call 24-seven, and will be a sworn officer, like other deputies.

"He was concerned for the spiritual welfare and theemotional welfare of the sworn officers of his department, and those that workin the jail, and wanted to make sure that he had every resource available tomake sure those needs were being met," said Rev. Davis.

Davis'sposition is voluntary, and costs the citizens of Worth County nothing.
