VSU stays hot, sweeps GSW

The Valdosta State Lady Blazers stayed hot Wednesday with a pair of road wins over Georgia Southwestern.

They are the 13th and 14th win out of the last 15 games.

In game one, Shelby Altman started a big inning with a two-run homer, her 14th of the season. That made it 3-1 Blazers. VSU would score three more in the inning before going on to a 7-3 win.

In game two, each team put a run on the board in the first inning, but both pitchers shut down the offenses until the 5th inning.

In the 5th, Kiley Rusen cleared the bases with a double into the right center gap.

That sparked a ten run inning for the Blazers, who clinched the sweep with a 11-1 win.

VSU improves to 31-9, while GSW drops to 23-19.

The Blazers host #9 Alabama-Huntsville Saturday. The Lady Canes kick off a six-game road trip at Georgia College Saturday.
