The Darton State Cavaliers have a lot of confidence heading into this weekend's Region 17 Championship.
And why shouldn't they?
The Cavs picked up their first win of the season with a 17-stroke victory at the Ron Marshall Spring Fling last weekend.
Not to mention Darton State has won the region title each of the last 12 years.
"I don't think we can be thinking about losing it," laughs sophomore Madison Turner.
Head coach Dale Dover says even after winning 12 straight, this tournament continues to be a special one for his team.
"You consider that a state championship, and it goes on all their resumes," says Dover. "To be able to say that you're the Georgia state champion in junior college is pretty big."
All spring season, Dover has been saying he felt like the team just needed a win.
They got it last week, and Dover and the Cavs say they've seen their confidence grow.
"I think everybody a ton of confidence now," says freshman Seth Sanders. "We hadn't won all year, so nobody knew what it was like to win."
"Getting the feel of winning is big for us," says Turner. "We played great and we deserved it, so let's go to region and keep up the good work."
And Turner adds while no one wants to be the team that loses the streak, he's trying to stay focused on playing well.
"I think we just need to go out there and play good golf and get the job done," he says.
The Cavs will tee it up for another region championship on Friday at Bagby State Park in Ft. Gaines.
