A bunt single scored Mason Moreland in the first, then a single down the right field line plated Moreland again in the fifth to take the lead for good.
Allison Pastor gave up four hits in the complete game win for the Lady Canes.
Game two went to extra innings, when USC Aiken's Ashley Metts hit an RBI double to center to break the tie and give the Lady Pacers a 2-1 win.
Rachel McElroy drove in the only GSW run in game two with an RBI double in the fourth inning.
Ashley Cavender pitched all eight innings in a losing effort.
GSW is back in action Wednesday for a home doubleheader against Valdosta St. First pitch is at 4:00 p.m.
