VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

There's a change to Pre-K and Kindergarten registration in Valdosta.

Early registration starts Tuesday. This year, parents must register their children at the specific school the child will attend.

School officials also remind parents to double check that they're registering their child at the right school because of recent rezoning.

"If you have a child that's turning four on or before September first, or, if you have a child that's turning five on or before September first, then you can come out and get your child registered," said Jennifer Steedley, Director of Public Relations for Valdosta City Schools. "If you think you're zoned for a particular school, you may not be. So, if you're not certain where you're zoned, please gives a call and we'll be happy to pull up the map and check your address."

The state of Georgia requires all parents to register their children for Kindergarten.

For more information on Valdosta City Schools' registration, visit www.gocats.org or call 229-671-6065.
