MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

South Georgia medical examiners are investigating whether a Sale City man suffered a heart attack before falling into a auger Tuesday.

The Mitchell County Coroner said 61 year-old Jackie McCook's body was discovered at the Snipes Farms around 8am Wednesday.

The farm owner's daughter found McCook's body while waiting for a morning grain delivery. The Coroner said the man may have had a cardiac attack while sweeping seeds inside one of the silos the night before when he fell into the machinery, but wasn't discovered until the following day.

"The only reason we're suspecting that is because his medicine was beside him and it deals with heart conditions," said Mitchell County Coroner Stedderick Thomas. "He had nitroglycerin beside him, so that's why we're thinking he pulled it out to use it."

Thomas said McCook was alone when the incident occurred. He said the man appears to have had a history of heart problems, and should have been working with other people. The state medical examiner is awaiting autopsy results.

A service will be held for McCook at the Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla on Sunday.
