LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A violent outburst on a school bus has police has landed a JCPS student in trouble.

According to Alicia Smiley, spokeswoman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, the incident happened around 2:50 p.m. in the 2100 block of Wilson Avenue.

Smiley said a 13-year-old student who had been angry at the bus monitor had just gotten off bus 0719. Moments later, police say the student either found or produced a brick threw it at the bus window.

The bus driver was hit in the face by the brick. She was treated at the scene for a facial cut, but did not have to be taken to the hospital. The bus monitor was not injured.

Smiley said the student will be charged with assault on a school official and criminal mischief. The boy is being held at the Jefferson County Youth Center.
