VPD looking for stolen handgun, shotgun

Aaron Kirk Aaron Kirk
VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A stolen semi-automatic handgun and a shotgun are now out on the streets in Valdosta...and Valdosta Police want your help finding them.

The guns, along with some electronics, were stolen from an apartment at the Woodstone apartment complex late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Valdosta Police Department Lieutenant Aaron Kirk said the suspect or suspects broke into the apartment through a sliding glass window in the rear of the apartment.

Kirk said if you find the guns, stay close by and call police.

"You always want to treat a gun like it's loaded," Kirk emphasized. "Probably the best thing to do is, if [you're] not sure how to handle a gun, is leave it there. Don't walk off, but try and call the police and stand by with it until an officer can get there."

Police do not have a description of the suspects. The handgun is a Smith & Wesson Model, the shotgun is a pump action Remington model.

If you have any information on the burglary call Valdosta Police at 229-242-2606.
