County steps in to help Zebulon; challenges city

Grady County commissioners are stepping forward and donating money to help keep the Zebulon theatre open.

The money will go towards the digital fund that will contribute to the much needed upgrades for the theater that has been in Cairo since the early 1900's. The vote was 3 to 2 and the county felt that the investment would help to keep the cornerstone of downtown rolling good movies for years to come.

"The board felt like it was such as vital part of the community, they did vote to contribute $4000 towards the upgrades needed for the Zebulon," said county clerk Carrie Kines.

County officials hope that the city will follow their lead and donate to the cause.
