GSP steps up enforcement for spring break

TIFT CO., GA (WALB) -

Expect to see more law officers on the highways for the next couple of weeks.

With spring breaks coming up, state troopers will step up patrols on highways like I-75. They'll be looking for intoxicated drivers and speeders.

The GSP says one of the biggest challenges they face right now is distracted drivers, especially people who are texting and driving.

"Texting while driving is illegal in our state but it continues to be a major contributing factor to our traffic crashes," says Captain Chris Wright, with the Georgia State Patrol.

Troops ask that people drive safely and don't speed.
