Viewpoint: Sign Ordinance

The city of Albany's sign ordinance is designed to help keep the community attractive.

But we hope city leaders will give thoughtful consideration to how the rules are written, and ensure they don't hurt the success of local businesses.

Jay Short of Short and Paulk building supplies believes restrictions on his landmark neon sign above his store are unfair.

We encourage the city to continue to get input from business owners when addressing signage to make sure the community remains attractive, and businesses aren't hurt in the process.

Albany not only wants to attract new businesses, but to protect those that are already here.
