ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some Lee County middle schoolers spent their night raising money for cancer patients.

Beta Club members from Lee County Middle School West collected money outside Harvest Moon as part of their Relay for Life Restaurant Night.  10% of the proceeds also went to the "Trojan Warheads" Relay for Life Team. Team members say every penny counts to support cancer awareness and research.

"I don't think there's anybody out there that hasn't been affected by cancer. I mean everybody knows somebody whether it be a relative or a friend whose life has been touched and Relay for Life is just critical in cancer research," said Christine Owen.

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will be held April 25th at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.
