DWS names Davis head baseball coach

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Deerfield-Windsor has named Jonathan Davis the Knights' new head baseball coach.

Davis will take over in August.

"I am grateful and excited to have theopportunity to take over the baseball program at Deerfield-Windsor," Davis said in a statement. "Welook to build on the great tradition at DWS of developing the whole student aswe positively impact the Albany community."

"We are very pleased that our search has resulted inattracting someone of Jonathan Davis's caliber," DWS headmaster Dave Davies said in a statement. "His recommendations spokeof his character, leadership, and expertise in all facets of school life."

Current head coach Rod Murray is leaving the school after the season to become the Southland head football coach.

Davis is currently the head baseball coach at Calvary Day School in Savannah. He led the Cavaliers to the GHSA Region 3-A title in 2012.

Before working at Calvary Day, Davis spent time as an assistant with Telfair Co., Valdosta State, and his alma mater, Brewton-Parker.

He played baseball for four years at BPC, and was a two-time Academic All-American.

Davis will also serve as an assistant coach with the Knights' football coach.
