Burglary suspects caught in the act

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A homeowner came home about 11:30 Monday morning, and found two males leaving his residence carrying armloads of the homeowner's property, including multiple firearms.

The homeowner attempted to detain the two young men.  One surrendered while the other ran off into a wood area.  Valdosta Police Department patrol officers, detectives, K-9 officers, and Crime Laboratory personnel, along with personnel from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene.

17 year old D'Ante Scruggs was located in a swampy area between Pebblewood Drive and Lake Drive.  He was taken into custody and some of the stolen property was recovered.

18 year old Antonio Webb was arrested at the residence.  Both were transported to the Lowndes County Jail.

Anyone having any further information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Valdosta Police Department Bureau of Investigations at 229-293-3145.
