Farmers hold back ahead of potential freeze

The threat of another freeze has some farmers holding off on planting their watermelons.

Mark Daniels owns Mark's Melon Patch in Terrell County, and he says fields will remain bare till after Wednesday when the freeze is predicted to strike.

He says luckily it's been dry lately which allowed farmers to prep fields for planting.

"Right now they are looking good in the greenhouse, but you don't want to put them out there when its supposed to be like 32 degrees Wednesday morning," said Daniels. "You don't want to sacrifice your crop over one night so we're gonna wait those one or two nights of cold weather and hopefully get them going good."

Daniel has already planted some corn which he hopes will survive the cold spell.
