Construction starts Monday on heavily traveled Albany road

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Road work will start Monday evening to resurface one of Albany's busiest roadways.

Workers will resurface Oglethrope going from east to west starting near Walmart Monday evening from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Construction will take place overnight to keep traffic delays down to a minimum near businesses, but DOT officials still ask that you slow down to avoid any accidents.

"The visibility is not so great at night so we don't want our workers out there getting hurt. We have some of our employees out there and we have contractors out there we don't want getting hurt," says DOT Communications Officer Juanita Birmingham.

This is the second phase of a project that's expected to be completed in June.
