The city of Albany celebrated the accomplishments of former Monroe Golden Tornado and Super Bowl Champion Ricardo Lockette Saturday afternoon.
Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and city commissioner Jeff Sinyard were just some of the many on hand.
Earl, Ricardo's father and Vernorris Bradley, Ricardo's former coach spoke at the event.
"Before he got in the NFL, I said you, 'The NFL don't impress me," the elder Lockette said. "You impress me."
"A lot of coaches want to coach him, why?" Bradley asked. "He makes you look good as a coach."
Lockette says he wants this day to be remembered for more than just what he did on the football field.
"It's not about me, it's not about me," Ricardo said. "I want this day to be about just being positive."
Lockette says he is working out 5 days a week in Miami with San Francisco 49er Colin Kaepernick among a number of other players.
