VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A popular exercise spot in Valdosta will soon be less available to the public.

Construction has begun on a fence around the Valdosta Middle School track. Currently, the track is open to the public 24/7.

Once the fence is up though, the track will be off limits to the public while students are at school.

"The main reason we are installing this fence at Valdosta Middle School is for the safety of our students...they have just gotten started on the project this week, and everything should be up and in place by the end of April," said Kaci Nobles, Valdosta City Schools' Facilities' Director.

The track will remain open on weekends and evenings.
