The state budget passed by the General Assembly this week includes some unexpected money for Darton State College.
Darton will get nearly $700,000 for modifications on the old student center.
Darton officials say they're excited to get the money which moves the college a step closer to a total renovation of the student center.
"The student center is built of two parts. We receive funding several years ago to make a new addition to the student center. And now our older student center needs some updating. The first step to that, which is available in this part of the funding was the HVAC and the mechanical systems," said Darton's Dean for Advancement, Tracy Goode.
The budget bill is awaiting Governor Nathan Deal's signature.
