ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Georgia hunters are ready to get back in the woods this weekend. Georgia Turkey hunting season opens on Saturday.

The Georgia Department of National Resources' Wildlife Resources Division believes one of the best areas in the state will be in the Coastal Plain region in South Georgia.

The DNR is also reminding hunters to remember safety first in the woods.

"Never wear red, white, and blue.  Never make turkey noises.  Make another human noise. Wear orange; cover your turkey with blaze orange, because people will see the dead turkey. If they see movement, they might end up shooting it," said John Denton, Ga. DNR Region 5 Supervisor.

Hunters can bag three tom turkeys per season. Georgia's turkey season will end on May 15th.
