Marchin' Cats' 2014 reunion approaches

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Former members of the Valdosta High School Marching 'Cats who participated during the award winning years that brought national attention to the program are on a nationwide hunt to locate as many of their peers as possible, in time for a reunion slated for March 28-29.

Since July 2013, key organizers of the reunion formed a committee and have conducted an exhaustive search to find as many former members who played or performed in the Marching 'Cats, and for this reunion, especially those who participated during the years from 1962 to1977.

That's when now retired Director Frank Butenschon and a crack staff of co-directors led the band to win several nationally recognized awards, including the famous Greatest Band In Dixie contest in New Orleans.

The organizers have set up a web site for the event at  www.marchincatsreunion.com  .  For more information on the reunion, contact Pierce at kvlpierce@bellsouth.net   or 229-300-0345, or Carole Stembridge Ausumat 229-251-3604.
