Georgia is lucky to have one of the best pre-k programs in the country. New research by experts at the University of North Carolina just confirmed that. And parents know it.
These parents camped out recently the night before pre-k registration opened in Lee County to make sure their kids got signed up, even though the classes didn't fill up right away.
And the state's free pre-k system is funded largely through lottery proceeds, meaning there's not a major burden on taxpayers.
Getting an early start on education is vital for a student's success throughout school. We're glad Georgia is getting this right, and we encourage parents to make sure their 4-year olds are enrolled.
