Former city commissioner arrested

Former Ward 3 Albany City Commissioner Christopher Glen Pike was arrested on a criminal trespass charge Tuesday.

He posted a $1,000 bond and was released the same day.

Police answered a burglary call at 2514 Habersham Road Tuesday, and Pike answered the door. He told officers that he was staying there, but a boy there told officers that Pike had pushed in a back window to get it.

Officers found damage to a rear window. Then the owner of the house, Leshunda King, arrived on the scene, and told police that she had put Pike out the night before, and told him not to return.

Pike has not returned phone calls to WALB seeking comment.

Last February, Pike had a financial issue with the city over events he sponsored around town.

Pike, who owns Urban Pulse, owed several thousand dollars in connection with the Albany Area Black Expo in April of 2012.

Pike says his company paid back the Albany Civic Center, and set up a plan to pay the Hilton Garden Inn.

Pike was elected to the Albany City Commission in 2009, replacing Morris Gurr.

B. J. Fletcher defeated Pike for the seat last November.
