CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Crisp County deputies are searching for an illegal immigrant who ran off during a traffic stop.

Dash cam recorders captured Tuesday morning's stop after deputies pulled over 30-year-old Amberto Quintero Salas from Mexico on I-75 for swerving in and out of his lane.

Officers tried to arrest him after he failed a field sobriety test, but he dashed across the highway and disappeared into the woods.

"Our K-9 tracking team was deployed and we also were assisted with DNR and their K9 and we tracked him for approximately four hours but were still unable to locate the driver," said Sgt. Ben Bray, Crisp County Sheriff's Office.

A passenger in the car, Ulises Perez Diaz, was arrested and is awaiting deportation to Mexico.

Salas is 5-feet 9-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.  He was wearing blue jeans with a striped shirt and a gray hoodie.  Anyone who sees him should call the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.
