    The rate increased because of seasonal factors, such as the summer job loss among non-contract school workers and temporary layoffs, primarily in manufacturing. There were 60,500 jobs in Albany in June, down by 300, or 0.5 percent, from 60,800 in May. Most of the loss came in state government and the service-related industries.More >>
CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

A  man accused ofstabbing his ex-wife multiple times Monday is in the Crisp County jail afterleading deputies on an 11-hour manhunt. 

Anonymous tips led deputies to 42-year-old Efrenn Hawkins onClover Road in Turner County after 7:00.

Investigators say Hawkins crawled into Vicki Hawkins'attic and jumped down and attacked her around 8:15 that same morning.

Deputies say he was stalking the woman before he waslocked up, and notified her as soon as he was released.   

"We had no prior knowledge that Mr. Hawkins was gonnacommit this crime.  Everything had beenfollowed.  All the procedures had beenfollowed as far as notification that he had been out of prison and that he hadfollowed through with the proper sex offender registration," said Crisp County Sheriff's Sgt.Ben Bray.    

Hawkins' court date hasn't yet been set.Hefaces multiple charges for the attack including aggravated assault, aggravatedbattery and burglary.
