NASHVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Gloria Rutledge is not happy with the way the investigation is being handled.

"Y'all did not come to this house. Y'all handled it very inappropriately," said Rutledge emphatically.

That's how Gloria Rutledge feels about the ongoing investigation into Saturday's murder at the Blue Swan night Club in Nashville that landed her son behind bars on Monday.

She says the Berrien County Sheriff's Office knew that her son, 31 year-old Kevin Brown, lived at her address but no one ever came to talk to her once Brown was identified as the suspect.

"If y'all want to put my son in on this, y'all need to do this investigation right," said Rutledge. "Anthony Heath, you have not been out here. You should've been the first one out here, because you knew he was paroled here. It's not like you didn't know nothin' about my son."

But the lead investigator with the Nashville Police Department says this isn't true.

"We actually did not have any current information for her, either address or phone number," explained lead investigator Fred Busbin. "What we did have was her younger son's information, there in Gainesville, Florida, which is why we were tryin' to contact him to get in touch with her."

Rutledge also says it seems fishy that the police originally started looking for a tan PT Cruiser and then began looking for a blue car.

But Busbin cleared that up, too.

"Someone called in about a blue car. It's all about following up on leads. Someone called in about a blue car, so we had to follow up on it," Busbin pointed out.

Rutledge says regardless of whether her son is guilty or innocent, she feels for the victim's family.

"My heart goes out to the Miller's family. 'cuz I know they grievin' just like I am grievin'. And I know it's a hard pill to swallow," Rutledge said.

Busbin expects to make more arrests soon. He says a few people will be charged with helping Kevin Brown hide out before he was caught early Monday in a Cook County motel.
