New school almost ready to open

Parents and students got a first look at the new Crisp County Primary School Monday night.

It's been nearly 50 years since they opened a new elementary school in the community.

The school will teach kindergarten through third grade and sits on more than 200 acres off Highway 300. Superintendent Rhonda Hayes said, "Anytime you can have a new building and upgrade your facilities and improve your environment. That's always going to be helpful. Research says students learn more."

For traffic safety there are speed bumps on the new road leading to the school and a new traffic light at the intersection with Highway 300.

The first day of class in the new school is tentatively set for March 31st.
