COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) -

A group of University of Tennessee students are spending their spring break in Southwest Georgia serving others.

This week these students will be busy packing boxes of food for hungry kids in Honduras and building handicap ramps for people in need.

They decided to spend their spring break making a difference and they learn a lot.

"They love to tell there friends its actually the most reward spring break they will ever have," says Jim Bailey, Executive Director of The Cross.

It's Evan Berres third trip to southwest Georgia.

"For myself and for a lot of us we love to serve and it's a great opportunity to serve and Heritage Church is so welcoming to us the encouragement just pours into us and that's a lot of the reason why I come back," says Senior Evan Berres.

Recently Berres traveled to Honduras, and got to deliver the thousands of boxes they spend time packing for hungry kids.

"It was what you see in pictures with really skinny kids and they are really starving..What I didn't expect is how much joy they would have and laugh and smile and encourage me to laugh and smile," she says.

This week they'll also build 12 handicap ramps for those in need.

It's Katie Sullivan's first time to do this mission trip.

"A lot of my friends were going down to panama and doing all the things that normal kids are doing when they're ready to go, but I decided this is my calling, to be with my friends and everyone with the cross and student ministries at the university of Tennessee."

She says she can't wait to see the finished project.

"Its gonna look really good and I'm excited to take pictures of it and excited for our members to come out and be able to use it,"says sophomore Katie Sullivan.

About 98 students traveled to Southwest Georgia for this year's trip.
